Abstract

Alzheimer's disease is the leading cause of dementia in Brazil and worldwide, representing a growing public health challenge as the population ages. It is characterized by progressive cognitive decline, with loss of functionality and impaired quality of life. In this context, innovative therapeutic strategies are being studied, including precision nutrition, which seeks to align nutritional interventions with individual metabolic needs. Coenzyme Q10, a fat-soluble antioxidant essential for the mitochondrial respiratory chain, has attracted interest due to its neuroprotective potential, particularly in reducing oxidative stress and maintaining neuronal integrity. The objective of this study is to analyze the contribution of Coenzyme Q10 as a tool in precision nutrition for the management of Alzheimer's disease, with an emphasis on its action on mitochondrial bioenergetics and the preservation of cognitive function. This is a integrative literature review conducted in national and international scientific databases, prioritizing publications between 2020 and 2025, totaling 16 articles included after applying the eligibility criteria. The results provide consistent evidence that Coenzyme Q10 supplementation can slow the progression of cognitive decline, modulate inflammatory processes, and optimize mitochondrial energy efficiency, although larger-scale clinical studies are needed to confirm these findings. The conclusion is that Coenzyme Q10 presents a promising strategy in the field of precision nutrition applied to Alzheimer's, reinforcing the importance of integrating personalized nutritional approaches into the multidisciplinary treatment of the disease.
