Abstract

Objective: To analyze trends in Brazilian academic publications on somatosensory tinnitus and discuss their implications for the organization of healthcare services. Methods: Narrative review, through a search in the Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), between August and September 2024. Studies that addressed the assessment and treatment of somatosensory tinnitus in healthcare services were selected. Results: Fourteen studies were identified, with a greater focus on the diagnosis of tinnitus compared to treatment. A gap in knowledge was found regarding the scarcity of longitudinal studies on interventions. Conclusion: The analyzed publications indicate a growing academic interest in somatosensory tinnitus in Brazil. The identified gaps impact the organization of healthcare by making it difficult to consolidate clinical protocols, care pathways, and multidisciplinary practices within the Unified Health System.
