This article analyzes the importance of the principles of hierarchy and discipline in the Military Police of Amazonas, considering their implications for institutional organization, operational efficiency, and the legitimacy of police action in the Amazonian context. The research focuses on understanding these principles as structural foundations of military institutions, responsible for guiding functional relationships, decision-making processes, and the standardization of professional conduct. Methodologically, the study adopts a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach, based on bibliographic and documentary research, examining legislation, regulations, and academic production related to public security and police organizations. The results indicate that hierarchy and discipline operate in an integrated manner, contributing to internal cohesion, rationalization of the use of force, prevention of misconduct, and conformity of police action with constitutional principles. It is concluded that strengthening these principles is essential for improving the Military Police of Amazonas and enhancing the effectiveness of public security policies in the region.
