This study aims to analyze the incidence and typologies of occurrences involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the State of Amazonas, identifying the operational challenges faced by the Military Police (PMAM). The research highlights a paradigm shift in public security, where the use of explosives has evolved from property crimes to terror tactics and urban dominance employed by local criminal factions, as observed in the territorial disputes within the Manaus Metropolitan Region. The methodology adopted was a narrative literature review, covering the period from 2010 to 2024, based on technical documents, defense manuals, and scientific articles. The results indicate that the Amazonian dynamic possesses unique logistical specificities, characterized by a dependence on river transport and complex routes that hinder the oversight of controlled inputs. It is concluded that an effective response to this threat requires the modernization of first response protocols and, fundamentally, the integration of intelligence among security forces, in addition to the implementation of technical inspections at ports and river bases.
