Hemodialysis is an essential therapy for patients with acute or chronic renal failure in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and nursing care plays a fundamental role in the safe and humane management of care. This study aimed to characterize nursing practices for adult hemodialysis patients in the ICU, identifying challenges and improvement strategies. This is an integrative literature review, conducted with articles published between 2023 and 2026 in the LILACS, BDENF, SciELO, and PubMed databases. The results showed that nursing interventions encompass continuous patient assessment, maintenance of vascular access, prevention of complications, and psychosocial support, although there are gaps in professional training and the implementation of standardized protocols. It is concluded that nursing care requires integration between technical knowledge, patient safety, and person-centered care, with a need for investment in training and management of evidence-based practices.
