The present study assesses the susceptibility to rock block movements on the Cristo Rei slope, located in the suburban area of Kanguinda, Lubango municipality (Huíla, Angola). The main objective was to identify the geological, geomorphological, and anthropogenic factors that influence block instability and, consequently, the risk to local housing. The research followed a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), based on direct observations, field surveys, bibliographic correlation, and interviews conducted with 40 residents and 2 representatives of the local administration. The results show that the slope contains highly weathered rock blocks, steep gradients, and a lack of protective perimeters—factors that increase the likelihood of gravitational movements. It was also found that the unplanned occupation at the base of the slope, in disagreement with geotechnical and legal administrative principles, substantially raises the level of geological risk. It is concluded that the study area is susceptible to rock block movements and unsuitable for residential buildings, making the implementation of territorial planning measures and community geological education urgently necessary.
