This article aims to discuss the main challenges and strategies for combating clostridiosis in Brazilian cattle herds, discussing the main clostridioses that affect cattle, their etiological agents and possible prevention strategies. To carry out this study, a qualitative, descriptive approach was used, using a bibliographic review of reference books and scientific articles published between 2019 and 2024 in English and Portuguese, using keywords related to the subject as search criteria. Through the study, it was possible to highlight the unique characteristics of the Clostridium genus that make it difficult to prevent the disease, and it was found that inadequate herd management, low awareness of the importance of immunization and non-mandatory vaccination also contribute to the occurrence of this class of diseases. The immunizers marketed in Brazil have some disadvantages, but they are still the best form of prevention available. It was possible to conclude that administering vaccines is the most appropriate way of preventing clostridiosis, and should be accompanied by awareness campaigns about the symptoms of these diseases and incentives for vaccination and good herd management practices.
