Psychological trauma represents an impasse regarding psychological impacts that are intrinsically related to how traumatized people interpret the events that happen around them and those who are familiar with the traumatic event. Therefore, it is possible to point out the symptoms related to this condition, which in turn manifests itself with feeling strong emotions of fear, anxiety and physiological symptoms. Through this context, it is possible to understand how trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder significantly affect the quality of life as well as the mental well-being of traumatized individuals. In this sense, by knowing in depth about an event, it is possible to obtain support for more assertive intervention proposals regarding the impact of trauma on post-traumatic stress disorder. The present study aims to analyze traumas and their influences on the development of post-traumatic stress disorder. Furthermore, a qualitative literature review study was carried out using articles from 2019 to 2024, using authors who are experts on the subject of traumas, such as: Kolk (2020), Maté (2023) and Levine (2012). Therefore, it is expected that this study will bring contemporary contributions on the subject that will assist in the management and clinical interventions of traumatic events, as well as provide more information in understanding the influences of psychological traumas, since these events act as a driver in the sense of triggering post-traumatic stress disorder, which significantly interferes with the full functioning of individuals' mental health.
