This article addresses slave labor in cities in the interior of Brazil, analyzing the factors that perpetuate this illicit practice and its impact on the dignity and health of workers. The study investigates socioeconomic vulnerability, deficient inspections, and exploitation in key sectors, such as agriculture and construction, which favor the continuation of this frequency. In addition, it emphasizes the importance of international standards and more effective inspection mechanisms to combat slave-like labor. The research was guided by a qualitative, descriptive approach, with bibliographic analysis of sources such as books, scientific articles, and legislation. The results demonstrate that, in addition to social precariousness, the lack of integrated public policies and the marginalization of certain social groups are decisive factors for the persistence of this criminal practice. It is concluded that, in order to effectively combat it, it is necessary to strengthen inspection strategies, promote the training of public agents, and consolidate partnerships between different governmental and non-governmental agencies.
