The article conducts a literature review on Syrian refugees in Brazil. Refugees are individuals compelled to leave their home countries due to armed conflicts, widespread violence, and massive human rights violations, and consequently require international protection. This review aimed to analyze scientific research, focusing on methodological aspects and key contributions concerning Syrian refugees in Brazil, published from 2011 to 2023. The following databases were consulted: Google Scholar, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and CAPES Periodicals. Thirty articles were examined. The results were organized into five thematic groups: The first group presented and discussed the experiences of refuge from the perspective of social integration. The second group focused on the issue of reception policies, legislation, and refugee policies. The third group concentrated on the topic of employment. The fourth group identified studies focusing on language learning. The fifth group analyzed two studies specifically addressing the issue of religion. This review revealed that, despite Brazil being considered a welcoming country, there is often ambiguity in the acceptance of Syrian refugees, particularly concerning religious and cultural differences. Although Brazil has a historical record of Syrian immigration, prejudice and xenophobia continue to pose problems in intergroup relations involving this refugee group.
