This article sought to investigate the role of nursing in promoting the mental health of pregnant women, aiming to contribute to a holistic and effective approach to prenatal care. This is a literature review with a qualitative approach carried out between the periods 2019 and 2024, carrying out searches for scientific productions, in the databases Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and through of the Primary Care Protocol by the Ministry of Health (2021) using the descriptors: nursing, mental health and pregnant women. It was observed that mental disorders in pregnant women represent a complex challenge that requires a multidisciplinary approach, in which nursing plays a fundamental role and requires early identification, emotional support, health education and coordination with other health professionals. These are essential strategies to promote the mental well-being of pregnant women. It should be noted that the contribution of nursing to the mental health of pregnant women is not limited to direct assistance, but also requires specific skills and in-depth knowledge on the part of professionals. This is essential to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the care provided, always aiming for the emotional and psychological well-being of pregnant women at all stages of this unique and significant journey that is motherhood.
