This study investigated the efficacy of telemedicine in the treatment of chronic diseases, aiming to answer the question of its effectiveness in improving clinical outcomes and patient adherence to treatment. The overall objective was to evaluate how telemedicine has been used in the management of chronic diseases and what benefits and challenges are associated with this practice. The methodology used was a literature review, which analyzed articles, theses and relevant studies on the subject. The results indicated that telemedicine contributed to the reduction of complications and hospitalizations, in addition to improving the interaction between patients and health professionals. However, the study also identified challenges, such as the lack of adequate infrastructure and cultural resistance. The final considerations highlighted that, although telemedicine has great potential in the treatment of chronic diseases, its effectiveness depends on overcoming these barriers. It was concluded that, for telemedicine to be effective, additional studies and the development of health policies that support its implementation are necessary.
