Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurobehavioral disorder in childhood. And one of the major challenges for the treatment of this disorder is the correct diagnosis of the disorder and the identification of comorbidities. Therefore, we searched through this study to describe the importance of neuropsychological evaluation for the diagnosis and management of the treatment to be proposed. Because studies indicate that for a more accurate diagnosis, a neuropsychological assessment of ADHD is essential, with repercussions on better professional performance in the conduct and direction of treatment. For this purpose, a literature review was carried out, using studies published in the last five years, with the exception of classical authors and important studies for the construction of the work. The results obtained through this work may contribute to the expansion of the informational universe of researchers in the area, as well as to a clinical practice guided by the ethical and technical precepts of neuropsychological science. For this, a bibliographic review of the literature was carried out, using a descriptive and qualitative approach in the field of content analysis. The results pointed out the importance of the neuropsychological evaluation for the diagnosis of ADHD and for the identification of more effective strategies for the treatment, providing a better quality of life for the individual with ADHD and his family. It was also possible to verify the importance of the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, as a psychotherapeutic approach with better results for this type of disorder and the importance of the neurological evaluation for the verification of the need for prescription drugs, as well as other treatment alternatives that have presented effective results.
