CAR ACCIDENTS: CAUSES, IMPACTS AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Abstract

This article sought to analyze the causes, impacts and preventive measures related to automobile accidents. A descriptive methodology was used, with literature review and statistical data analysis to understand the factors that contribute to the occurrence of traffic accidents, as well as the economic and social consequences of these events. The search for articles was carried out in the PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar databases, using the terms "car accidents", "road safety" and "prevention". Articles published between 2010 and 2023 were included, available in Portuguese, English or Spanish, and with access to the full text. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, of the 250 articles found, 180 were excluded, resulting in 70 articles analyzed. The results highlight the relevance of factors such as recklessness, traffic violations and inadequate road conditions. It is concluded that educational measures, rigorous inspection and improvements in infrastructure are essential for the accelerated reduction of automobile accidents.
