Abstract

Precision medicine has emerged as a revolutionary approach to healthcare, offering treatments more tailored to patients' individual characteristics. In pregnancy, this approach is particularly relevant due to the unique complexities that arise for maternal and fetal health. Personalized clinical treatment during pregnancy seeks to optimize care based on genetic, environmental and behavioral variables, aiming to improve results for both mother and baby. The application of precision medicine during pregnancy can include specific strategies, such as using genetic data to predict risks of complications and adjust clinical interventions more effectively. Objective: To evaluate personalized clinical treatment approaches in precision medicine for pregnancy, analyzing the effectiveness and application of these strategies in clinical practice. Methodology: The methodology followed the PRISMA checklist guidelines and included a comprehensive search in the PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science databases. The following descriptors were used: "precision medicine", "personalized treatment", "pregnancy", "prenatal care" and "clinical strategies". Studies published in the last 10 years that addressed the application of precision medicine in pregnancy were included. Inclusion criteria were: studies that presented data on the effectiveness of personalized approaches in pregnancy, peer-reviewed articles, and research that focused on specific clinical interventions. Exclusion criteria were: studies outside the scope of pregnancy, articles not peer-reviewed, and publications that did not present empirical data. Results: The results revealed that precision medicine offers significant benefits, such as personalizing prenatal care, early identification of genetic risks, and tailoring clinical interventions to individual needs. It was observed that personalized strategies can improve gestational outcomes and reduce the incidence of complications. Conclusion: Precision medicine in pregnancy has proven to be a promising approach, allowing for more tailored and effective treatment. Evidence suggests that personalizing care can lead to better maternal and fetal health outcomes, highlighting the importance of integrating genetic and clinical data into management strategies during pregnancy.
