ANALYSIS OF THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF VOTES IN THE 2022: PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN THE STATE OF PIAUI: CARTOGRAPHIC APPROACH USING SOCIOECONOMIC DATA

Abstract

This work investigates the reasons for the expressiveness of votes, in the presidential campaign for the Workers' Party (PT) in Piauí, in the year 2022. The research analyzed the municipalities with the highest voting expressiveness and their relationship with quality of life, from the political actions developed by the party. In this context, the reasons for the PT's expressive vote in the state of Piauí in 2022 were investigated. The research is based on the following stages: bibliographic review; survey of the socioeconomic profile of the municipalities of Piauí, representatives with the greatest voting expressiveness, taking as a reference, PIB per capita data, in the years 2010 and 2020. Complementing the methodological approach is the collection of data on the distribution of valid votes counted in the 2022 election, by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), in a regionalized manner in the territory of Piauí, through cartographic sampling. The results reveal that municipalities with low PIB per capita achieved a considerable improvement in quality of life through policies to reduce social inequality developed by the PT, such as Family Scholarship. This condition is a justifying reason for the significant vote in the municipalities included in this research.
