This study investigated how instructional design has evolved to respond to the new educational and technological demands of the 21st century. The general objective was to analyze the methodological and technological changes that influenced the practice of instructional design. The bibliographic review methodology was used, exploring scientific articles, books and specialized publications. The results showed that the integration of information and communication technologies transformed instructional design, making it interactive. Traditional models like ADDIE have been adapted to incorporate new technologies, while agile approaches like SAM have gained relevance. The research highlighted the importance of instructional design in different contexts, such as distance education, hybrid learning and corporate training, highlighting its effectiveness in improving the teaching and learning process. Among the challenges identified, personalization of teaching and student engagement stood out, while opportunities included the use of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality. It was concluded that instructional design continues to evolve to meet the contemporary needs of education, and there is a need for additional studies to deepen the analysis of emerging technologies and their practical applications.
