This study aims to discuss the financial abuse experienced by the elderly population within the family context, seeking to identify the most recurring types of abuse in this setting. To this end, we draw on the theoretical contributions of authors such as Teixeira (2006; 2009), Silva (2014), Pereira (2007), Muller (2008), Minayo (2004; 2014; 2016). Our research adopted a qualitative and quantitative methodological approach, structured on a literature review and interviews, based on investigation and observation. As a result, we obtained data that, after being organized and analyzed, were compiled in this work to broaden and disseminate knowledge about financial abuse against the elderly. Thus, we organized our research as follows: initially, we addressed the concepts and typologies of violence, establishing connections with our theme; next, we analyzed the conducted interviews, identifying patterns and accounts that illustrate the reality experienced by the elderly regarding financial abuse, strengthening the conclusions and recommendations presented; and finally, we discussed solutions concerning financial abuse against the elderly, emphasizing the need for knowledge dissemination and the creation of strategies that can contribute to combating this type of violence.
