Abstract

Abortion currently emerges as one of the main topics among scientists, religious groups, and legal legislators due to the conflicts generated by the issue and the various manifestations of groups for and against it. This article aims to provide an overview of the neglect of women's reproductive sexual health in Brazil and demonstrate through this study the need for the decriminalization of abortion. Abortion is a practice as old as humanity itself. Despite the existence of legislation, controls, intimidation, and especially sanctions that have arisen throughout human history, women have never stopped performing it. It is known that clandestine abortions result in various physical and psychological consequences for the women undergoing them. The research method used is a literature review based on books, newspapers, scientific articles, and magazines.
