The present study aims to discuss the transformations introduced in the text of the Maria da Penha Law regarding the legal provision of psychological violence in the domestic and family sphere, based on the articles that address psychological violence against women in the legal text, as well as Article 147-B of the Penal Code. It evaluates the adaptations and modifications made over time concerning the consideration of psychological violence, as well as examines the results reflected in statistical data and social impacts related to the legal provision of psychological violence in the text of the Maria da Penha Law. To this end, it was assumed that the Brazilian legislature is sensitive to social demands and, therefore, active in the process of adapting legislation to meet societal needs. In this context, this research demonstrates that studies of this nature are relevant because they are capable of showing how the law assimilates and adapts to social demands, considering the time, adequacy, and results of this process. Moreover, it can foster debate at the level of reflection on the need for improvement, updating, and action regarding the institutional and legislative policies responsible for guaranteeing women's fundamental rights globally. It can also contribute to raising societal awareness about the necessity of monitoring and vigilance of tools to combat all types of violence against women, thereby increasingly contributing to the formation of individuals who are active and aware of their roles in society.
