Tooth whitening. Post bleaching sensitivity.Abstract
Dental bleaching is a conservative and effective treatment alternative for improving smile aesthetics, both as a pediatric therapy and as the first step in a more complex treatment plan. Despite being a minimally invasive and safe treatment, it is subject to side effects, with dentin hypersensitivity being the most common adverse effect. Although this symptomatology is transient, it is the main cause of resistance to treatment by patients, becoming a concern for professionals. At this time, there is still no consensus on a specific treatment, but several products and protocols are being studied in order to look for alternatives for the management and therapy of sensitivity associated with tooth whitening. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze in the literature what are the management options for sensitivity associated with tooth bleaching. the study was carried out between the years 2014 and 2024 of scientific journals and bibliographic research such as: SciELO, PubMed. Much of the research has reported that there is still no therapeutic solution capable of eliminating tooth sensitivity after tooth whitening, but there are several alternatives to minimize this effect.
