Abstract

The chosen theme is of great importance, as it addresses obstetric violence against women not only during childbirth, but also in the vast majority of cases, in the months leading up to giving birth, that is, in prenatal care, during childbirth, postpartum, cesarean section and even in the fateful and exhausting moment of involuntary abortion. We will see some actions considered as obstetric violence, such as: rudeness, swearing, getting rid of the woman in labor with unnecessary and embarrassing comments, depriving her of anesthesia in moments of extreme pain. One of the methods of this violence used is to put pressure on the woman's belly in order to force the baby to be born faster, also called the Kristeller maneuver. A woman's mental health is affected and her psychological suffering tends to interfere with her day-to-day journey, at home, at work and, sometimes, when entering a hospital even for a simple annual Pap smear procedure, which is a preventive exam. of the cervix. The fear of reliving all that comes to the surface again. In some research we did, we will give examples and make quotes to make it clear how obstetric violence affects not only maternal mental health, but also as a person, the health of women, who are left with trauma, panic attacks and, in many of them , the fear of being a mother again, thus leaving an internal aftereffect that is difficult to treat or even heal. As a result of this work, it is hoped that we can contribute, above all, by encouraging the hospital team, especially in the obstetric ward, to act with more respect for women who are in such a fragile state when it comes to giving birth. birth your baby without the need to harm them in any way, whether with instruments or direct person-to-person treatment.
