Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuropsychiatric condition prevalent in the pediatric population, characterized by persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity that significantly interfere with the child's social, academic and occupational functioning. According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the prevalence of ADHD in school-age children varies between 5% and 7%. This narrative literature review brought together articles published in the last ten years in the PUBMED and SciELO databases, aiming to indicate in selected literature what are the clinical characteristics of ADHD. Finally, it is stated that ADHD is a chronic condition that can have a significant impact on a child's development. With an early diagnosis and a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan, many children can learn to manage their symptoms and achieve optimal functioning. Collaboration between parents, educators and health professionals is essential to provide a supportive environment and promote the child's positive development.
