This article addresses the relevance of the victim's word in domestic violence crimes, a critical issue that impacts millions of people, especially women, and the need for effective mechanisms to combat it. The Maria da Penha Law is a key mechanism, but its application faces challenges due to the hidden nature of these offenses. The work investigates the importance of the victim's testimony in light of the principles of criminal law and criminal procedure, such as the presumption of innocence, in dubio pro reo, and the search for the truth, and the implications of convictions based on the special valuation of the victim's testimony. The research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the valuation and impact of the victim's testimony in criminal proceedings, emphasizing the need to balance the victim's word with other evidence to avoid injustices.General Objective: To analyze the relevance of the evidentiary value of the victim's word in domestic violence crimes.
