Abstract

This study addresses  the importance of humanized  prenatal care in promoting the mother-baby bond, emphasizing comprehensive interventions that target not only the physical health of pregnant women and neonates but also psychosocial, educational, and preventive aspects. It highlights the need for more integrated and attentive follow-up from the beginning of pregnancy, pointing out deficiencies such as insufficient adherence and poor distribution of consultations that affect the quality of care. The work justifies the humanization of prenatal care as essential, especially considering the intense physical and emotional transformations during pregnancy, suggesting that humanized practices can significantly transform the maternity experience and strengthen the connection between mother and child. The objectives of this study include investigating the impact of humanized prenatal care, characterizing its practices, and evaluating pregnant women’s perceptions of these cares, in addition to exploring the consequences of this approach on maternal-infant health and infant development. Using an integrative review methodology, the study analyzes theoretical and empirical literature to gain a holistic understanding of the implications of humanized care. The results reveal that practices such as immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth and support for breastfeeding are crucial for establishing a secure and healthy bond. However, there is a lack of studies focused on the bonds between mothers and full-term babies in hospital settings, indicating the need for more research. It concludes that it is imperative to adapt hospital practices to improve the experience of mothers and babies, promoting environments that favor the establishment of emotional bonds. This study underscores the vital role of humanized care practices from the start of life and aims to inspire positive changes and further investigations in the area.
