Abstract

This study is dedicated to analyzing overincarceration and the violation of women's rights within the Brazilian prison system. In this context, the problematization consists of and focuses on implications that go beyond public security issues, exploring the causes, consequences and alternatives for the overincarceration of women in Brazil, demonstrating how the increase in incarceration directly impacts women's rights within the prison system. Therefore, the main objective of the research is to investigate the phenomenon of this over- incarceration with the purpose of understanding the complexity of the situation considering its multiple dimensions, in addition to developing proposals and practices that promote gender justice and respect for human rights. The study also analyzes non-compliance with assistance and legal guarantees for inmates under the terms of the Penal Execution Law. In short, to achieve the desired objective, the research methodology is based on a bibliographic and documentary review of a qualitative nature, developed through the survey ofbooks, scientific articles and documents that deal with the topic. That said, the study contributes to public debate, awareness and awareness on the issue of female overincarceration in Brazil, with the aim of mobilizing society in favor of significant changes in improvement practices related to the prison system.
