Abstract

This article sought to analyze the relationship between anxiety and oral health, where it was found that anxiety can significantly influence behaviors related to oral care and the emergence of oral diseases. How is anxiety associated with oral health habits and what is its role in the prevalence of conditions such as tooth decay, bruxism and periodontal disease? To achieve this goal, specific objectives were established, including an analysis of the prevalence of anxiety in relation to oral care, the identification of behaviors associated with anxiety, and the assessment of the impact of this condition on specific oral conditions. The rationale for this study lies in the importance of understanding the relationship between anxiety and oral health to develop effective prevention and intervention strategies. Anxiety can lead to behaviors that are harmful to oral health, increasing the risk of developing conditions such as tooth decay and periodontal disease. Therefore, understanding these mechanisms is essential to promote better oral health and quality of life. The methodology employed included a systematic review of the literature to investigate the relationship between anxiety and oral health, as well as field studies to collect data on the prevalence of anxiety, associated behaviors and incidence of specific oral conditions. The results of this study highlighted the complexity of the relationship between anxiety and oral health, developing prevention and intervention strategies. In conclusion, this study contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between anxiety and oral health, highlighting the importance of integrated and holistic approaches. in dental care. By recognizing the impact of anxiety on oral health habits, healthcare professionals can develop more effective strategies to promote better oral health and overall well-being in patients.
