INCIDENCE OF MOUTH CANCER IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORTO SEGURO: A DOCUMENTAL ANALYSIS

The population of the Far South of Bahia faces significant challenges in relation to oral health, especially with regard to oral cancer. Lack of access to information is a crucial factor that can negatively impact the prevention, diagnosis and effective treatment of this disease. “What is the current situation of mouth cancer in the city of Porto Seguro and what are the factors associated with this condition?”. The objective of this work is to carry out a documentary analysis study of the incidence of mouth cancer in the city of Porto Seguro- Ba, seeking to understand the epidemiological patterns and identify possible associated risk factors. The specific objective: Analyze documentary records of cases of oral cancer in Porto Seguro, from sources such as hospital records, anatomopathological reports and death records, removing from DATA SUS and the National Cancer Institute – INCA, identify demographic patterns associated with the incidence of mouth cancer in the studied population, as well as explore the geographic distribution of cases of mouth cancer in the municipality and investigate at least one risk factor associated with the development of oral cancer in the local population. Methodology: a documentary analysis will be carried out in conjunction with the qualitative literature review to contextualize the quantitative data in a broader scenario, enriching the understanding of the problem. Regarding inclusion and exclusion, the quantitative approach will allow the analysis of a representative sample of mouth cancer cases in Porto Seguro, considering specific inclusion criteria, such as confirmed diagnosis, and exclusion, such as cases not related to the object of study. Expected results: It is expected to identify patterns of oral cancer incidence, highlighting the influence of socioeconomic factors. Furthermore, it is intended to propose specific actions to increase awareness and improve access to health services, aiming to reduce the prevalence of oral cancer in the region.
