Abstract

Ectopic pregnancy is a serious medical condition in which the embryo implants outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes. This condition can lead to serious complications, including rupture of surrounding tissues and internal bleeding. The clinical manifestations of ectopic pregnancy vary, but often include severe abdominal pain and abnormal vaginal bleeding. Early diagnosis is crucial to avoid serious complications, and several treatment options are available, including surgical intervention and administration of medication. Objective: This study aims to systematically review recent literature on the clinical manifestations of ectopic pregnancy and treatment possibilities, aiming to provide a comprehensive and updated view on the topic. Methodology: The systematic review was conducted according to the Prisma checklist guidelines. The PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science databases were searched, using the descriptors "ectopic pregnancy", "clinical manifestations", "treatment", "diagnosis" and "complications". The inclusion criteria were studies published in the last 10 years , available in full text and specifically addressing the clinical manifestations and treatment of ectopic pregnancy. Exclusion criteria included repeated studies, isolated case reports and studies unrelated to the topic. Results: The results of the systematic review highlighted the main clinical manifestations of ectopic pregnancy, including severe abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding and signs of shock in severe cases. Regarding treatment, several options were discussed, such as surgical intervention to remove the ectopic embryo and the administration of medications such as methotrexate to interrupt the development of the embryo. Furthermore, potential complications and the importance of early diagnosis were addressed. Conclusion: In summary, ectopic pregnancy presents significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. The systematic review highlights the importance of raising awareness about the clinical manifestations of this condition and the need for rapid and effective intervention to prevent serious complications. Up-to-date knowledge about available treatment options is essential to ensure the best outcome for patients affected by this condition.
