This study addressed the implementation of Peer Instruction (IEP) and active methodologies in the modern educational context, aiming to understand how these approaches could be effectively integrated into teaching practices, especially in elementary education and in online environments. The general objective was to investigate the effectiveness of the IEP, with an emphasis on the use of augmented and virtual reality technologies, and group formation strategies to promote more interactive and collaborative learning. Using an analysis of specialized literature, this work examined significant contributions to the field, highlighting the role of educational technologies and group formation practices in IEP success. Results suggested that IEP, complemented by advanced digital tools and well-planned group strategies, could significantly improve student engagement and academic performance. Final considerations emphasized the importance of adapting educational practices to the needs of contemporary students, recommending the integration of the IEP as an essential part of the teaching methodology in different disciplines and levels of education.
