This article explored the application and impacts of Active Methodologies in education, with an emphasis on the Peer Instruction methodology. The study aimed to analyze how these methodologies transform the learning environment, promoting a more collaborative and interactive education. The research was based on a bibliographic research methodology, following the guidelines proposed by Oliveira Netto (2008), where articles, books, and relevant electronic documents on the topic were analyzed. Authors such as Marin et al. (2010), Singer and Moscovici (2008, as cited in Marques et al., 2021), and Paulo Freire (2015, as cited in Sepulvida, 2022) were crucial for the discussion on the changing roles of students and educators through the lens of Active Methodologies. Lima and Santos (2016, as cited in Santos, 2018) and Trindade (2014, as cited in Santos, 2018) contributed perspectives on the technological implementation necessary for the effective practice of Peer Instruction in educational environments. The article concluded that the adoption of Active Methodologies is crucial for the development of an educational model that values student autonomy and interactivity in the learning process. It encouraged further research on the integration of modern educational technologies to facilitate the implementation of these methodologies.
