The Person-Centered Approach (PCA) differs from other approaches, mainly because it does not have a technique but rather an understanding of man in his relationship with the world. In this approach, psychological duty appears as a form of reception and active listening. Brazilian psychology, which was once seen as an elitist practice, can, through this service, offer not only psychological assistance, but also as an intervention and preventive measure of the crisis for the homeless population. This theoretical article aims to identify the practices, highlighted in Brazilian literature, that can be developed to provide reception through psychological support, with these socially marginalized people. The studies reviewed suggest a new perspective on the practice of psychological duty, based on the conviction of the individual's potential for transformation. Especially when facing reports of humiliation, fragile family dynamics and the challenges inherent to life on the streets. Active listening and the careful presence of the therapist are highlighted as fundamental elements for understanding the client's experience and reflecting together on more assertive ways to deal with their difficulty.
