Introduction: Maxillofacial surgery is an intervention that causes postoperative pain, local edema, hyperemia, hyperthermia, and can alter the function of the region. Using the Hilotherm facial mask can reduce recovery time after a surgical procedure, minimizing these consequences. Objective: To analyze the available literature on the effectiveness of using Hilotherm in maxillofacial surgeries. Methodology: Consists of an integrative literature review with the aim of incorporating a wide range of purposes, such as defining concepts, reviewing theories and evidence, and analyzing methodological problems on a particular topic. As a guiding question, following the PICO strategy, population, Intervention, Comparison and "Result”. Therefore, the guiding question used was "How effective is Hylotherapy in Maxillofacial surgeries in relation to edema, pain and patient satisfaction in the postoperative period? ” Results: The systematic search resulted in 39 studies, removal of 24 duplicate articles, resulting in 15 studies. After reading the titles and abstracts, 15 studies were assessed for eligibility, of which 4 were excluded due to abstracts and 01 articles were withdrawn for not meeting the study objectives. Discussion: Hylotherapy was associated with reductions in facial pain and facial edema, in addition to patients reporting more comfort and satisfaction. Having been used for the post-operative period of orthognathic, third molar and zygomatic bone surgeries. Conclusion: Although its clinical effectiveness has been supported by current literature, there are still disagreements regarding what temperature is ideal for using a face mask, which is why more studies are still needed regarding its clinical parameters
