QUALITY OF LIFE IN ADULT PATIENTS WITH CANCER

Fundamental to its effectiveness to achieve QoL during cancer treatment, the integration of Palliative Care (PC) is essential, which is offered by a multidisciplinary team with the aim of promoting relief and comfort to the patient. Objective: To show how essential it is to emphasize the importance of QoL for cancer patients, mainly through PC, so that it can reduce suffering and increase survival and dignity of these people. Materials and Methods: This is a literature review, carried out from March to November 2023, in Brazil. Publications in electronic magazines, national and international periodicals, scientific articles were analyzed. Research platforms: Virtual Health Library, Ministry of Health, Scientific Electronic Library Online, National Cancer Institute. 26 publications were used between 2018 and 2023. Result: The importance of PC integrated into treatment since diagnosis was realized and how the lack of it makes a difference in the QoL of these patients and their families. The main reasons that lead to the lack of this were also presented. support and what measures should be taken to improve it. Conclusion: To obtain QoL in cancer patients, access to PC is essential from diagnosis to the mourning phase when necessary, therefore, greater investment in this sector is essential to solve the problem.
