The association between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and joint manifestations in patients with spondyloarthritis has been the subject of increasing interest in medical research. The complex interconnection between these chronic inflammatory conditions can result in a significant impact on patients' quality of life, involving not only the gastrointestinal system, but also the musculoskeletal system. An in-depth understanding of this relationship is crucial for early diagnosis and effective management of these diseases, providing better clinical outcomes for affected individuals. Objective: To comprehensively and analytically investigate the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease and joint manifestations in patients with spondyloarthritis, exploring the scientific evidence available over the last 10 years. Methodology: The methodology adopted in this systematic literature review followed the guidelines established by PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). A comprehensive search for articles was conducted in the PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science databases, focusing on studies published in the last 10 years. The selection of articles included specific descriptors, such as "inflammatory bowel disease", "spondyloarthritis", "joint manifestations", "association" and "clinical impact". The inclusion criteria included studies related to the interaction between inflammatory bowel disease and spondyloarthritis, while publications not relevant to this topic or without specific clinical or epidemiological data were excluded. This methodological approach allowed for a comprehensive analysis of available scientific evidence, offering a solid basis for understanding the association between these conditions over the last decade. Results: The results revealed a strong correlation between the presence of inflammatory bowel disease and the development of joint manifestations in patients with spondyloarthritis. Several studies have highlighted the complexity of systemic involvement, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach to treatment. Conclusion: This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the association between inflammatory bowel disease and joint manifestations in spondyloarthritis, highlighting the need for a multidisciplinary approach to the clinical management of these complex conditions. The synthesis of findings highlights the importance of future research aimed at personalized therapeutic strategies, considering the interactions between the gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal systems.
