The objective of this article is to demonstrate how tuberculosis remains a disease of great relevance in society, due to the impacts it generates, mainly on populations at social risk. The literature demonstrates the influence of social determinants in relation to the forms of transmission, adherence to treatment and cure of tuberculosis, in addition to reporting how these factors worsen the spread of the disease. Furthermore, the types of tuberculosis and diagnostic and treatment recommendations were verified according to each specific clinical condition. Thus, based on the knowledge of the data presented in the article, the need to raise population awareness about the aforementioned aspects was observed, in order to promote health strategies that combat the pathology in its entirety.
