Abstract

In recent years, the civil engineering sector has been growing expansively, becoming of paramount importance for the Brazilian economy. And for this reason, there are countless studies aimed at improving the aesthetics and quality of buildings. For this reason, pathological manifestations must receive due attention and must be carefully analyzed in order to offer an ideal treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out an exact diagnosis, in which it is indicated at which stage of the construction process problems were triggered, consecutively presenting the possible corrections for these. It is also important to install prophylaxis measures that serve to prevent the reappearance or spread of other pathologies. Fissures stand out as one of the main pathologies, as they are manifestations that stand out and attract the attention of users, most often generating insecurity, bringing a negative importance to homes. Therefore, in view of such importance, the present work, through a bibliographic review, aimed to discuss the main types of fissures, their causes and consequences. With the accomplishment of the same, it was possible to conclude the importance of the role of the civil engineer as something primordial, therefore, this professional is prepared to carry out an adequate planning and consequent technical follow-up, establishing the correct use of techniques and the use of adequate materials, guaranteeing the effectiveness and durability of the works.
