THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NURSE IN IDENTIFYING ASPERGER'S SYNDROME IN PRIMARY CARE

Abstract

The article highlights the importance of nurses in recognizing Asperger's Syndrome in primary care. Addressing the subtle behavioral characteristics of the syndrome, the nurse plays a crucial role in observing and assessing patients during primary care. Early identification allows for appropriate referrals, effective interventions, and necessary support for patients and their families. The role of nurses in primary care is fundamental to creating awareness, promoting early diagnoses and contributing to the quality of life of individuals with Asperger's Syndrome. Objective: To understand the nurse's contribution during growth and development monitoring consultations for the early identification of Asperger's syndrome as an autism spectrum disorder, in order to contribute to the dissemination of information and promote greater awareness and social understanding . Know the signs of Asperger's Syndrome that can be identified during consultation; discuss the impact of Asperger's Syndrome on individuals' daily lives; highlight barriers and challenges in identifying Asperger's in primary care in the nursing consultation; list the main points of health education in relation to Asperger syndrome. Materials and Methods: the methodology used involved a research of theoretical content, with a detailed bibliographic review of the existing scientific literature on the topic. Literary studies, public health guidelines and clinical practices related to Asperger Syndrome in primary care were analyzed. Results: The results highlight the significant contribution of nurses in the early identification of Asperger's Syndrome in primary care. The nurse plays a fundamental role in recognizing subtle behavioral indicators, allowing for early interventions and appropriate referrals. The nurse's role in this context provides substantial benefits, effective support for patients and their families, in addition to promoting a holistic approach to managing the syndrome. These results highlight the importance of nurses as an essential member of the care team and approach to Asperger Syndrome in primary care. Conclusion: This study highlights the relevance of the nurse's role in providing comprehensive care and support to patients with Asperger's Syndrome in primary care. The emphasis is on raising awareness about risk factors and implementing educational interventions, areas in which nurses demonstrate special skill.
