Abstract

It is with great enthusiasm that we present this digital book that aims to explore and analyze the challenges and possibilities of Social Work in the complex context of the Brazilian prison system. "Challenges and Possibilities of Social Work in the Brazilian Prison System: An Analysis of Impact and Social Transformation" is a work dedicated to understanding the evolution of social assistance policy in Brazil, as well as highlighting the crucial role of social workers in the resocialization of individuals within this system.
Chapter 1: Evolution of Social Assistance Policy in Brazil, offers a historical retrospective, addressing the evolution of social assistance policy in Brazil. From the beginnings to the present day, important milestones, legislative changes and social transformations that shaped the current scenario will be discussed. With a critical analysis, we intend to provide a comprehensive overview to understand the roots and evolution of social assistance in the country.
Entering the 2nd chapter, The Role of the Social Worker in the Resocialization of Individuals in the Prison System: Challenges and Perspectives in the Implementation of Security and Resocialization Policies, this item focuses on the role of the social worker as an agent of transformation in the prison environment. We will address the challenges faced by these professionals, including structural, social and individual issues. Furthermore, innovative perspectives and proposals will be presented for the effective implementation of security and resocialization policies.
