Aromatherapy is an ancient science that contemplates integrative medicine and its therapeutic benefits based on essential oils. The objective was to identify whether medical students in Southwest Goiás are adhered to this therapy, which essential oils are most used and if there was any therapeutic benefit. This is a quantitative primary field research of the observational, exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional retrospective type. It was carried out through an online form via WhatsApp®, consisting of closed questions that were sent to medical students from the 1st to the 12th period, including those aged at least 18 years. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and tabulated in Microsoft Word® spreadsheets. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee CAAE number 58647622.1.0000.5077. The form used was an adaptation of the questionnaire and the Morisky-Green Test, which analyzed the degree of adherence to essential oils in 324 participants, obtaining 33% of high adherence, 49% of medium and 18% of low. In the other analyses, although only 35.49% of the total had already used essential oils, 77.03% of those who reported that they had never used essential oils before were interested in trying them. Considering those who have already used any of the oils mentioned in the survey, 93.75% reported that therapeutic benefits were observed and the oil in which they obtained greater adherence was Lavender with 41.96%. It is concluded that most participants use or are interested in using essential oils, in addition most observe therapeutic benefits.
