Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic was established worldwide in the year 2020. The disease had its onset in 2019 in China, and with this the clinical manifestations of severe acute respiratory syndrome have become increasingly prevalent inpatients infected by SARS-CoV-2 (OMS, 2021). Pregnant women and their fetuses are a high-risk population during infectious disease outbreaks (DASHRAATH et al, 2020). The physiological and anatomical changes of pregnancy increase the susceptibility to sepsis. The COVID-19 infection presents pathological changes that lead to a change in the hypercoagulable state, causing risks to the population already prone to thromboembolic events, such as pregnant women for example (NEGRAES et al, 2021).
