According to the Brazilian Burn Society (SBQ), it is estimated that there are around 1,000,000 burn accidents per year in the country. At a global level, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), burns are associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality, functional limitation, disfigurement and social stigma. These data highlight the need for constant investment by the health system in prevention actions and adequate management of burn victims. The objective of this work is to spatially and temporally analyze the profile of hospitalizations for burns and corrosion in Brazil in recent years, the corresponding period from January 2012 to July 2023. The profile of the most affected population were children, mixed race, male, mainly between the ages of 1 to 4 years, and in the Southeast and Northeast regions. And with regard to total hospital expenses by region, the Southeast region and the Northeast region suffered the greatest economic impact. In this sense, the importance of understanding the epidemiological profile and the groups most susceptible to this type of incident is understood, with a view to implementing preventive measures, especially aimed at the segments most vulnerable to the occurrence of burns.
