Studying the pregnancy process includes analyzing the stories of different women in different contexts. Just the fact that the pregnancy is desired or not or whether or not the pregnant woman has a support network, for example, can significantly influence the acceptance of the process and require individualized management from the healthcare team. In addition to good monitoring of the prenatal period, it is extremely important that the mother and newborn continue to receive frequent support from a healthcare team. Health promotion strategies (especially for first-time women) can positively affect the health of women and the newborn. Therefore, this narrative literature review brought together articles from the PUBMED database aiming to point out the main changes presented during the postpartum period. It was concluded that the main changes include body restructuring, especially in the abdominal, pelvic and uterine regions of the woman. However, each case has its own peculiarities and must be treated individually, covering the general aspects of the period. The importance of psychological support should be considered to prevent or treat postpartum depression early.
