Endometriosis, a chronic and debilitating condition, has been the subject of extensive research and development in the field of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This comprehensive review covers a number of relevant topics and updates regarding endometriosis, which is a pathology characterized by the abnormal presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. The objectives of this article include exploring diagnostic complexities, such as the use of advanced imaging methods and molecular markers, and discussing contemporary therapeutic options, from drug therapy to minimally invasive surgery. An integrative literature review was methodologically carried out in the PubMed, SciELO and ScienceDirect databases. It was observed that certain considerations regarding endometriosis, related to fertility and pregnancy, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in clinical management. The complexity of endometriosis stands out, making early diagnosis and the need for a multidisciplinary approach for effective clinical management of this condition essential. Further studies are needed to train health professionals to better care for patients with endometriosis and establish approaches to the varied manifestations of the disease, with the aim of improving quality of life and well-being.
