Hormonal changes play a fundamental role in a woman's gynecological health throughout her life. During puberty, changes in estrogen and progesterone levels trigger the development of reproductive organs, and regular menstrual cycles are established. However, the transition to menopause, which generally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, brings with it a progressive decrease in female sex hormones. This hormonal decline is associated with a series of significant gynecological changes. Menopause is often accompanied by symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and changes in libido. Vulvovaginal atrophy due to decreased estrogen levels can result in discomfort and pain during sexual intercourse. Furthermore, menopause is related to changes in the menstrual pattern, leading to its definitive cessation. These hormonal changes also have a direct impact on women's bone health, increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. It is critical to address these gynecological health concerns through treatment strategies that may include hormone therapy, lifestyle modifications, and regular medical monitoring. Therefore, understanding the impact of hormonal changes on gynecological health is essential to providing adequate medical care to women at different stages of their lives, promoting a better quality of life and well-being.
