Racial prejudice is a form of discrimination based on skin race or color, which manifests itself through prejudice, stereotypes and hostile and disrespectful behaviors in relation to people of a certain ethnic-racial origin. In Brazil, racism is a historical and structural problem, which is reflected in various spheres of society and demands effective measures to promote racial equality and the fight against prejudice and discrimination. Given this scenario, the present study aimed to deepen the understanding of racial prejudice, its causes and consequences, and to present possible solutions to confront this problem. In the methodology, it was a bibliographic review, based on selected scientific studies and jurisprudence, whose temporal cut was between 2018 and 2023 found in database such as Scielo and Google Academic. In the results, it was evidenced that racism generates the victim, among other effects, emotional damage, disparity at the opportunity for work, social isolation, etc. In the legislative field, there was innovation brought by Law No. 14,532/2023 that typifies racial injury as a racial injury, with the penalty increased from one to three years to two to five years imprisonment, bringing greater legal rigor to crimes of this nature. Nevertheless, it is understood that it is necessary to promote the inclusion and integration of different races in all sectors of society. This implies public policies aimed at guaranteeing equal rights and valuing ethnic differences, as well as educational actions that promote diversity and mutual respect.
