This report seeks to expose one of the neurological complications of dengue, which is the most common urban arbovirus in our country. The clinical presentation of dengue can vary from headache, skin eruptions, myalgia, diarrhea to severe neurological manifestations, whose prevalence varies from 0.5 to 21% and among them, Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), an autoimmune acute demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy inflammation, stands out. The mechanisms related to GBS and dengue are still unknown. However, evidence suggests that dengue has some characteristics of an immune-mediated neurological disease, since the pro-inflammatory substances that participate in the immune response to the dengue virus also play an important role in GBS pathogenesis, which may, in fact, establish the relationship between these two diseases. In this report, the dengue and Guillain Barré syndrome diagnosis were based on clinical findings, study of the cerebrospinal fluid, electrophysiological findings associated with specific levels of IgM for dengue.
