“HUMANIZAÇÃO” PROJECT AND THE AWARENESS OF THE CÁCERES CITY POPULATION ABOUT BREAST CANCER – NA EXPERIENCE REPORT

This assignment aimed to describe the practices experienced by the members of the “Humanization” extension project linked to the University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), in a partnership with the Cáceres Mama Group, during the Pink October, through an experience report. Among the performed activities are social interventions, which intended to raising awareness among the population about the campaign, breast cancer, myths and truths, risk factors, prevention, screening, signs and symptoms and treatment. These were realized through lectures at schools, at the woman’s police station and at the Grandene farm. The events were very successful, reaching directly the population of Cáceres city, who actively participated in the conversation circles. Nevertheless, the Pink October campaign experienced by the participants showed real health education actions, raising awareness of the importance of early diagnosis, risk factores and prevention measures of this neoplasm that is so common in the country.
