Abstract

Leptospirosis is a disease caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira spp. that can affect humans and animals. It is a zoonotic disease with a wide geographical distribution, both in urban and rural areas. It affects animals regardless of race, gender and age, and its history is usually associated with exposure of the individual to contaminated environments or reservoir hosts. Therefore, the present study was carried out with the aim of reporting a case of leptospirosis in a dog and demonstrating the main clinical and laboratory aspects, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
