Penile and preputial trauma are often described in the clinical and surgical routine of domestic animals, whose main clinical manifestations include: penile exposure with modified mucosal appearance and color, preputial wounds, inflammation, hyperemia, and penile hematomas, as well as edema of preputial and penile mucosa. Surgery is the preferred treatment option, and it varies according to the degree of tissue loss presented by the patient, being total penectomy the recommended technique for extensive lesions. The present report aims to describe a case of total penectomy and pre-scrotal urethrostomy to correct a traumatic preputial laceration in a six-month-old male mongrel dog. The patient arrived at the Veterinary Clinic of PUCPR with history of traumatic injury to the penis, occurred three months before. Physical examination revealed normal mucous membranes, good body condition score, and no alterations in other physiological parameters for the species. Upon evaluation of the reproductive system, penile exposure, resorbed penile mucosa, and preputial tissue laceration were observed. The diagnosis was established based on the patient's history and physical examination findings. After complementary exams, the animal went through orchiectomy, total penectomy and pre-scrotal urethrostomy surgery. During the postoperative period, the patient had an excellent recovery, and medical discharge was instituted. Patient was reevaluated ten days after surgery, presenting a good general clinical condition and complete surgical wound healing.
